Drawing it!

A large part of the hobby is drawing your own. There’s more than enough material out there that you can use for inspiration, if you look. Drawing is great value for money, as it’s one of the cheapest hobbies out there. All you need is some paper and a selection of pencils. Other hobbies cost many hundreds of pounds, with fancy equipment and such. My start-up costs totalled up to £2.98. That’s £1.99 for a set of pencils (2B, B, HB, F, H, 2H) and £0.99 for a set of 2 putty rubbers. Really, that’s it! Oh, and just for the record I also found a sharpener from underneath my bed and a sheet of paper from the printer. Wow, that’s easy right? Well get started! Yep, that’s the best thing to do. Perhaps get a few tutorials and stuff, they can help to get you started. Personally I believe what you need most is determination and “constructive self-criticism”.  Big phrase, huh? Basically just look at what you’ve drawn and see what worked and try to work out why.

Remember to look in as many places as possible either on the internet or in libraries or books to get as much information from as many sources as possible to help you develop your own style of drawing.
